Product Description: GM-CSF, a colony stimulating factor also known as CSF2, mediates the proliferation, differentiation, and functions of hematopoietic precursor cells. This bioactive recombinant human GM-CSF is a 14.6 kDa globular protein formed by a 128 a.a. polypeptide with two intramolecular disulfide bonds and two potential N-linked glycosylation sites.

Application Note: The ED₅₀ was determined by a cell proliferation assay using TF-1 cells is ≤ 0.1 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of ≥ 1 x 10⁷ units/mg.

Background: The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that controls the production, differentiation, and function of granulocytes and macrophages. The active form of the protein is found extracellularly as a homodimer. This gene has been localized to a cluster of related genes at chromosome region 5q31, which is known to be associated with interstitial deletions in the 5q- syndrome and acute myelogenous leukemia.
