Background: Indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) is a plant hormone belonging to the group of auxins. It is used to stimulate root formation in plant cuttings. According to new EC regulations, IBA levels should approach zero at the time the plantlets are entering the market. In order to be able to measure IBA in soil samples, polyclonal antibodies and a corresponding ELISA was developed. The highly purified BSA-Indole-3-butyric acid conjugate can be used as a standard in antibody-based tests.
