Background: Albumin is a stable small polypeptide with a strong antigenicity. It has a molecular weight of 69,000 and an isoelectric point of 5.7. The protein is isolated from serum by sequential precipitation and further purified by ion exchange chromatography and affinity chromatography. The identity is confirmed and tested by immunoelectrophoresis and radial immunodiffusion using antisera to total serum proteins, immunoglobulins and albumin. Purified mouse albumin may be used as a reference antigen, calibrator, coating protein and blocking agent in a variety of immunoassays including immunodiffusion, immunoelectrophoresis, ELISA, Western blotting, dot-immunobinding assays (DIBA), haemagglutination, and cell-binding assays.
Specificity: Chromatographically purified Mouse albumin
