Background: Bisphenol A (BPA) is predominantly used in the production of polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins that are used in many products. It is released into the environment and food. BPA is an endocrine disruptor with estrogenic and obesogenic properties. It influences reproduction and has an epigenetic effect already in the foetus.
