Additional info: DOG1 is a calcium-dependent chloride channel protein that is encoded by a gene called TMEM16A (TMEM16 FLJ10261, ANO1, ORAOV2, and AOS2) located on chromosome 11q13. DOG1 has many significant functions such as regulation of the cholinergic activity of gastrointestinal smooth muscle 2 and regulation of both the survival and proliferation of cells. Anti-DOG1 antibody has been shown to be useful in the identification of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST).
