Background: The reactivity of the antiserum is restricted to hemopexin as tested in immunoelectrophoresis and radial immunodiffusion. A characteristic single precipitin line is obtained with normal serum which shows a reaction of identity with the precipitin line with purified hemopexin. In precipitating techniques as immunoelectrophoresis and single and double radial immunodiffusion to identify the presence hemopexin in human serum or other body fluids and to determine its concentration. This antiserum has not been tested in more sensitive assays as nephelometry, ELISA or use in immunohistology, but this does not exclude such use if proper controls are included.

Source: Hemopexin is a haem-binding -globulin present in normal serum at a concentration of 0.8 to 1.0 mg/ml. Its molecular weight is 57,000. The carbohydrate content is 23%. It consists of one polypeptide chain. Purified hemopexin isolated from pooled human serum. Freund’s complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure.

Specificity: Precipitating polyclonal Rabbit antiSerum to Human hemopexin.

Formulation: Delipidated, heat inactivated, lyophilized, stable whole antiserum No preservative added. Total protein and IgG concentrations in the antiserum are comparable to those of pooled normal rabbit serum. No foreign proteins added.

UniProt: P02790
