Notes: Acetoacetyl-coenzyme A (acetoacetyl-CoA) is a precursor to HMG-CoA in the isoprenoid pathway.{33693,33694} It is reversibly converted to acetyl-CoA by acetoacetyl-CoA thiolase in the mitochondria.
