Product Description: The NOK-1 antibody reacts with human CD178 (Fas ligand) in both membrane bound and soluble forms. Fas ligand is a 40 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein, a member of the TNF-α family, and is expressed by activated T and NK cells, neutrophils, and monocytes. Interactions between CD178 (Fas ligand) and CD95 (Fas) induce a program of apoptosis and play a key role in immune regulation and homeostasis. The extracellular domain of human CD178 can be cleaved from the surface by matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) resulting in a 26 kDa soluble protein.
Application Note: FACS: 0.25 μg (5 μl) for 10⁵-10⁸ cells in 100 μl sample per test. *Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the researcher.Not tested in other applications.

Background: This gene is a member of the tumor necrosis factor superfamily. The primary function of the encoded transmembrane protein is the induction of apoptosis triggered by binding to FAS. The FAS/FASLG signaling pathway is essential for immune system regulation, including activation-induced cell death (AICD) of T cells and cytotoxic T lymphocyte induced cell death. It has also been implicated in the progression of several cancers. Defects in this gene may be related to some cases of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
