Notes: Fluorofenidone is an antifibrotic agent and a derivative of pirfenidone (Item No. 13986).{72243,72244} It inhibits angiotensin II-induced increases in TGF-β1 secretion and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, as well as TGF-β1-induced production of collagen I, in NRK-52E rat proximal tubular epithelial cells when used at a concentration of 8 mM.{72243} Fluorofenidone (500 mg/kg) decreases disease severity and the renal levels of collagen I, collagen III, and connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) in a rat model of obstructive nephropathy induced by unilateral ureteral obstruction.{72244} Fluorofenidone also increases survival in a mouse model of LPS-induced endotoxemia when administered at a dose of 200 mg/kg.{72245}
