Notes: Ginsenoside Rf is a steroid glycoside found in plants of the genus Panax that has diverse biological activities.{36223,36224,36225,36226} It inhibits production of IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, NO, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) in human HT-29 intestinal epithelial cells and RAW 264.7 mouse macrophages in a dose-dependent manner.{36224} Ginsenoside Rf inhibits N-type calcium channels in rat sensory neurons (IC50 = 40 μM).{36223} In vivo, ginsenoside Rf has antinociceptive effects in mice in the acetic acid abdominal constriction test and in the biphasic formalin test (ED50s = 56 and 129 mg/kg, respectively), which are models of tonic pain.{36225} Topical administration of ginsenoside Rf (0.05% solution) reduces ear swelling by 34.8% in a mouse model of contact dermatitis.{36226}
