Notes: Plant sterols are cell membrane lipids that are found as free sterols, sterol esters, sterol glycosides, and acylsterol glycosides.{47675} They are precursors of the brassinosteroid family of plant growth regulators and have roles in transmembrane signal transduction and cell proliferation and differentiation. Plant Sterol Mixture contains brassicasterol (14%), campesterol (28%), stigmasterol (12%), and β-sitosterol (43%) and is intended for use as a reference standard for the detection of these plant sterols in various sample types by GC- or LC-MS.
