Notes: Plant sterols are cell membrane lipids that are found as free sterols, sterol esters, sterol glycosides, and acylsterol glycosides.{47675} They are precursors of the brassinosteroid family of plant growth regulators and have roles in transmembrane signal transduction and cell proliferation and differentiation. Plant Sterols Kit contains the following seven individually packaged plant sterols: β-sitosterol, desmosterol, lanosterol, stigmasterol, ergosterol, coprostanol, and cholestanol, as well as three mixtures: steryl glucosides, esterified steryl glucosides, and plant sterol mixture. Steryl glucosides is a mixture of non-esterified β-sitosterol glucoside, β-campesteryl glucoside, β-stigmasteryl glucoside, and β-Δ-5-avenosteryl glucoside. Esterified steryl glucosides contains esterified forms of β-sitosterol glucoside, β-campesteryl glucoside, and β-stigmasteryl glucoside. Plant sterol mixture contains brassicasterol (14%), campesterol (28%), stigmasterol (12%), and β-sitosterol (43%). Plant Sterols Kit is intended for use as a reference standard for the detection of these plant sterols in various sample types by TLC, LC-MS, or GC-MS. [Matreya, LLC. Catalog No. 1123]
