Additional info: Fascin is a 55-kd actin bundling protein involved in cell migration. Fascin is up-regulated in many human carcinomas and numerous studies have correlated Fascin over-expression with increased metastatic potential. Fascin is highly sensitive for staining Reed-Sternberg cells making it an excellent marker for classic Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It is uniformly negative in lymphoid cells, plasma cells and myeloid cells. MON 3279 is positive in dendritic cells. This marker may be helpful in distinguishing between Hodgkin’s disease and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in difficult cases.
