Clone: Polyclonal
Background: The reactivity of the antiserum is restricted to native and activated C2. In immunoelectrophoresis and radial immunodiffusion, using various antiserum concentrations against human plasma a single precipitin line is obtained and shows a reaction of full identity with the purified immunogen. In precipitating techniques as immunoelectrophoresis and single and double radial immunodiffusion (Mancini, Ouchterlony) to identify the presence of C2 or to determine its concentration. The presence of non-precipitating antibodies has not been assayed. This does not exclude the use of the antiserum in non-precipitating antibody-binding techniques if proper controls are included.
Source: The C2 component of human complement is a single-chain polypeptide with a molecular weight of 110,000. It is present in plasma in an average concentration of 25 μg/ml. The activated form of C2 combines with the activated C4 to form a complex with C3-convertase activity in the classical pathway of complement activation. C2 is isolated as a homogenous protein for use in the antiserum production. Freund’s complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure.
Specificity: Precipitating polyclonal Rabbit antiSerum to Human C2 component of complement.
Formulation: Delipidated, heat inactivated, lyophilized, stable IgG fraction. No preservative added. The IgG concentration is 4 mg/ml in PBS-EDTA. No foreign proteins added.
