Background: Renin is a protease that is synthesized by the kidneys. Renin catalyzesthe hydrolysis of angiotensinogen to angiotensin I, which is converted to angiotensin II, ahighly potent vasoconstrictor. Renin inhibitors have been used therapeutically in thetreatment of hypertension (high blood pressure).
Contraindications: DMSO >1%, strong acids or bases, ionic detergents, high salt
Description: The Renin Assay Kit is designed tomeasure Renin activity for screening and profiling applications. It comes in a convenient96-well format, with purified, activated renin, renin substrate, and assay buffer for 100enzyme reactions. Aliskiren Hydrochloride is also included as a control for renininhibition. The key to the Renin Assay Kit is the specific, fluorogenic substrate. Using thiskit, only one simple step on a microtiter plate is required for renin reactions. Thefluorometric substrate is incubated with a sample containing renin enzyme to produce afluorophore that can then be measured using a fluorescence reader.
Storage Stability: At least 12 months from date of receipt, when stored as directed. Kit components require different storage conditions. Be sure to store each component at the proper temperature upon arrival.
Supplied As: Supplied in a convenient 96-well format, with purified, activated renin, renin substrate, assay buffer, and inhibitor for 100 enzyme reactions.
Warnings: Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
