Description: Stimulates glucose uptake in differentiated adipocytes via the induction of glucose transporter SLC2A1/GLUT1 expression (but not SLC2A4/GLUT4 expression). Activity requires the presence of KLB. (www.uniprot.org) Produced in E.coli as a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 195 amino acids, having a N-terminal His tag. FGF-21 is a potent activator of glucose uptake on adipocytes.
