Recommended Usage: CD55, clone JS11 is a mAb valid for identification of DAF protein expressed on HCs including erythrocytes and many non-hematopoietic cells. This reagent is effective for direct IF staining of human tissue for FCM analysis using ≤1 μg/106 cells.
The antibody recognizes an epitope in SCR4 domain of CD55 (DAF). It is a 70 kDa glycoprotein (in erythrocytes) anchored in the membrane by a glycosylphosphatidylinositol tail. DAF has a wide distribution on cells in non-haemopoietic tissues, particularly epithelium and endothelium and is specifically found at the foetal-maternal interface in placenta. CD55 is expressed, like CD59, in erythrocytes, lymphocytes, monocytes, polymorphonuclear cells and platelets.
