Immunogen: Folate Binding Protein [Bovine Milk]
Physical State: Lyophilized
Purity and Specificity: This product was prepared from monospecific antiserum by a delipidation and defibrination. Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-goat serum, purified and partially purified Folate Binding Protein [Bovine Milk]. Cross reactivity against Folate Binding Protein from other tissues and species may occur but have not been specifically determined.
Background: Folate Binding Protein binds to folate and reduced folic acid derivatives and mediates delivery of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate and folate analogs into the interior of cells. It has a high affinity for folate and folic acid analogs at neutral pH. Exposure to slightly acidic pH after receptor endocytosis triggers a conformation change that strongly reduces its affinity for folates and mediates their release. It is required for normal embryonic development and normal cell proliferation.
Low Endotoxin: No
Other: User Optimized
