Purity and Specificity: Human Collagen type VI has been prepared from Human Placenta and is chromatographically and immunologically pure. This product is free from other collagens, human serum proteins and non-collagen extracellular matrix proteins. This product reacts with anti-Collagen Type VI. Reaction with Rockland’s anti-Collagen I, II, III, IV or V is negligible.
Background: Collagen type VI is a form of collagen primarily associated with the extracellular matrix of skeletal muscle. Collagen type VI is associated with the genes COL6A1, COL6A2, and COL6A3. Defects in collagen VI are associated with Bethlem myopathy and Ullrich congenital muscular dystrophy.
