Additional info: Alpha-Methylacyl-CoA Racemase (also known as AMACR or P504s) is an essential enzyme in the βoxidation of branched-chain fatty acids. AMACR over-expression has been demonstrated in several cancers including colorectal, prostate, ovarian, breast, bladder, lung, and renal cell carcinomas, lymphoma, and melanoma. Staining with the antibody to this enzyme has been useful in identifying prostate carcinoma and prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia, as well as atypical adenomatous hyperplasia in formalin-fixed paraffinized tissue in morphologically difficult cases.
