The cyst (30 um) and trophozoite (7 um) stages can be identified in humans is such cases. This intracellular parasite is transmitted via raw/undercooked meat, contaminated soil, or by direct contact with an infected host. Infection in humans is usually associated with a variable degree of immunosuppression such as in pregnancy or immunosuppression due to various drugs.
