Description: M-CSF, a potent hematopoietic factor, is generated by a variety of cells such as lymphocytes, monocytes, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, myoblasts, and osteoblasts. It serves as a crucial regulator of cellular proliferation, differentiation, and survival for blood monocytes, tissue macrophages, and their progenitor cells. Notably, M-CSF plays significant roles in modulating dermal thickness and fertility. Clinically, it finds use in treating infections, malignancies, and atherosclerosis, aiding hematopoietic recovery post bone marrow transplantation. While Human M-CSF is reactive in murine systems, the murine molecule lacks activity on Human cells. Recombinant Human M-CSF is a homodimeric protein weighing 36.8 kDa, composed of two 159 amino acid polypeptide subunits.
