Scientific Background: Brefeldin A is a reversible inhibitor of proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) to the golgi. In mammalian and yeast cells, Brefeldin A targets certain GTP-exchange factosr responsible for activating a GTPase called Arf1p (1, 2).
