Clone: VJ1/20.
Conjugate: FITC.
Immunogen: Tissue / cell preparation (Human tonsil).
Storage Buffer: The reagent is provided in aqueous buffered solution containing protein stabilizer, and ≤0.09% sodium azide (NaN3).
Recommended Usage: CD9, clone VJ1/20, is a mAb intended for the identification/ enumeration of human platelets using FCM. This reagent is effective for direct IF staining of human tissue for FCM analysis using ≤1 μg/106 cells.
Description: This antibody reacts with the CD9-antigen, which is expressed on the surface of developing B lymphocytes, platelets, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils, stimulated T lymphocytes and by neurons and glial cells in the peripheral nervous system. In pre-B cells and platelets, CD9 antigen regulates cell activation and aggregation possibly through an association with the integrin CD41/CD61 (GPIIb/GPIIIa).
CD9 is a 24 kD type III transmembrane protein also known as tetraspanin, MRP-1 and DRAP-24. It is a member of the tetraspan family (spanning the membrane four times) found on platelets, B cell progenitors, activated lymphocytes, granulocytes, endothelial cells and epithelial cells. CD9 induces adhesion, platelet aggregation, and B cell development. CD9 has been shown to associate with CD63, CD81, CD82, and CD36 and to bind to β1 integrins.
