Applications: Test antibodies against claudin 18.1Screen inhibitors or neutralizing antibodies against claudin 18.1
Background: Claudins are integral membrane proteins and major components of tight junction strands which serve as a physical barrier to prevent solutes and water from passing freely through the paracellular space between epithelial or endothelial cell sheets. The claudin-18 gene has two splice variants: claudin 18.1, which is found primarily in the lung, and claudin 18.2, which is expressed exclusively in the stomach. In claudin 18-deficient studies, claudin 18.1 was identified as a regulator of normal lung homeostasis as its deficiency promoted the proliferative state of malignant cells found in lung adenocarcinomas.1 Therefore, claudin-18.1 may be a potential therapeutic target in cancer. 1
Description: Recombinant clonal CHO cell line stably expressing full-length human claudin 18.1 (claudin 18 isoform 1, CLDN18, gene accession number NM_016369.4). The stable clonal cell line was selected for high levels of claudin 18.1 expression compared to the parental CHO-K1 cell line.
Host Cell Line: CHO
Mycoplasma Testing: The cell line has been screened to confirm the absence of Mycoplasma species.
Storage Stability: Cells are shipped in dry ice and should immediately be thawed or stored in liquid nitrogen upon receipt. Do not use a -80°C freezer for long-term storage.
Supplied As: Each vial contains 2 x 106 cells in 1 ml of cell freezing medium (BPS Bioscience, #79796)
Uniprot: P56856
Warnings: Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
