Cord blood (commonly abbreviated HUCB) CD34+ cells are known to contain hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, and are ideal for studies relating to transplantation and stem cells as cord blood derived cells tend to be more naïve than similar cells derived from other tissue sources.
High Purity and Viability
Lonza cord blood CD34+ cells are isolated from cord blood mononuclear cells (MNCs) via positive immunomagnetic separation and are guaranteed to have a purity of ≥90% as indicated by CD34+ expressing cells. They are guaranteed to contain ≥1 million viable cells per ampoule. HIV-1 and hepatitis B are not detected for all donors and/or cell lots. A Certificate of Analysis is provided for each cell lot purchased.
Cord blood CD34+ cells tend to be more naive than hematopoietic stem cells from other tissue sources. Thus, they can be a great tool when trying to bypass HLA mismatch issues. However, the number of cells available per donor is limited and can pose a challenge in your research. If you are looking for large numbers of hematopoietic stem cells from the same donor, CD34+ cells derived from bone marrow might be a good option.
