Our devices are known for constant innovation, the latest standards and the latest design. BioTek Instruments, Inc. has been around for half a century. It was founded in 1968 by a visionary: Dr. Norman Alpert, an internationally recognized expert in the field of hypertrophy of the heart and bioenergetics - at that time professor and holder of the chair for Physiology & Biophysics at the University of Vermont, USA. He recognized the great potential of microtiter plate-based assays in life science research early on. In 1981 BioTek presented the first microplate reader. Since 2019 BioTek is part of Agilent.
The Synergy ™ LX Multi-Mode Reader is an inexpensive alternative to common devices in this laboratory device segment. A large touch screen* and integrated software simplify programming and performing assays in microtiter plate format - even without a computer. The results can then be transferred to a computer via USB stick or output via connected printer.
The combination of the extensive data analysis software Gen5 and a high-quality optical design guarantees excellent measurement results in the areas of absorption, fluorescence and luminescence.
*Synergy LX is also available without a touchscreen. The operation then takes place exclusively via the Gen5 software.
Typical applications
Agilent's absorbance readers offer a high degree of flexibility for a variety of applications. From simple ELISA assays to high-throughput applications, these absorption readers offer a very extensive range of functions. The monochromator-based devices are ideal for UV-Vis measurements, while filter-based devices impress with their performance and robustness.
Alpha-based assays (AlphaLISA®, AlphaScreen®, SureFire®) are becoming increasingly important. Agilent offers alpha detection for the Synergy Neo2 as well as for the Cytation5.
Agilent's patented multi-detection readers with Hybrid-Technologie™ combine flexible monochromator-based detection with a system of powerful filters / dichroic mirrors in a single device. The Synergy H1 offers an unmatched price-performance ratio.
Monochromator systems stand for easy operation, flexibility and an immediate, comprehensive variety of applications. The Synergy H1M is currently the most affordable monochromator-based multi-detection reader on the market.
Filter-based readers are the best compromise between performance, flexibility and costs. The devices have a very efficient optics and ensure a high level of sensitivity. For most microplate-based applications, the Synergy HTX is already used in many laboratories around the world in the life science sector.
Especially for the requirements of today's screening laboratories general laboratories the Synergy Neo2, an HTS multi-detection reader for microtiter plates, was developed.
The patented hybrid technology is continued in the Cell Imaging multi-detection reader. Cytation 5 is a combination of multi-detection reader and microscope (inverse fluorescence, bright field microscope, phase contrast and AlphaScreen®). The unique design is ideal for assay development and applications in the field of cell biology.
With the Take3 and Take3 Trio micro-volume plates, quantifications in the micro-volume range can be carried out quickly and easily in your Agilent micro-titer plate spectrophotometer. The simultaneous measurement of up to 48 2 µL samples is possible without dilution and without special equipment. In addition, standard cuvettes or patented BioCells can be used for quick 1 cm measurements. Together with the Take3 and Take3 Trio microplates, the system guarantees a high level of versatility through absorption and fluorescence measurements in a Synergy hybrid reader or multi-detection reader. Pre-installed nucleic acid and protein protocols in the Gen5 software also enable quick and easy quantification.
