The test contains all necessary reagents and is prepared in a few simple steps. The amplification and detection of the target is performed with the Alethia™ instrument.
Advantages of the Alethia system:
LAMP technology was developed in Japan by the Eiken Chemical Corporation (Notomi T. et al., 2000) and licensed by Meridian Bioscience Inc. for infection diagnostics. The technology uses complementary primers to form a stem-loop structure. The amount of the formed waste product (magnesium pyro-phosphate) is measured at the end of the reaction and is proportional to the amount of DNA in the sample. The results are qualitatively evaluated. Since the ISOTHERMAL reaction takes place, a temperature of only 63°C is used, therefore no conventional "thermal cycler" is needed.
