Clone Name: NOK-1
Light Chain: Kappa
Product Description: The NOK-1 antibody reacts with human CD178 (Fas ligand) in both membrane bound and soluble forms. Fas ligand is a 40 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein, a member of the TNF-α family, and is expressed by activated T and NK cells, neutrophils, and monocytes. Interactions between CD178 (Fas ligand) and CD95 (Fas) induce a program of apoptosis and play a key role in immune regulation and homeostasis. The extracellular domain of human CD178 can be cleaved from the surface by matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) resulting in a 26 kDa soluble protein.
Application Note: FACS: 0.5 μg (5 μl) for 10⁵-10⁸ cells in 100 μl sample per test. *Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the researcher. Not tested in other applications.

Background: This gene is a member of the tumor necrosis factor superfamily. The primary function of the encoded transmembrane protein is the induction of apoptosis triggered by binding to FAS. The FAS/FASLG signaling pathway is essential for immune system regulation, including activation-induced cell death (AICD) of T cells and cytotoxic T lymphocyte induced cell death. It has also been implicated in the progression of several cancers. Defects in this gene may be related to some cases of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2014]
