Background: The IFN-lambda gene family is composed of three distinct genes: IFN-lambda1 (IL-29), IFN-lambda2 (IL- 28A), and IFN-lambda3 (IL- 28B) . IFN-lambda proteins exhibit only weak homology to IL-10, but, like IL-10, they also use the IL-10R2 chain as a component of their receptor complex. The IFN-receptor complex consists of the unique ligand-binding chain IFN- R. The IFN-λ1 gene is found exclusively in primate genomes and is 81% identical to IFN-λ2/3. IFN-λs, which are now collectively referred to as type III IFNs, exhibit several features in common with type I IFNs, such as antiviral, antiproliferative, and antitumor activities.

Biological Activity: The ED50 is determined in an anti-viral assay using human HepG2 cells infected with EMCV is typically 1-5 ng/ml.

Description: Recombinant Interleukin-29 (IFN-lambda) is a disulfide-linked monomer protein consisting of 178 amino acid residues, and migrates as an approximately 20 kDa protein under non-reducing and reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE. Optimized DNA sequence encoding murine Interleukin-29 mature chain was expressed in E. coli.

Endotoxin Level: <0.1 ng/µg (1 EU/µg), using the LAL gel clot method.

Format: lyophilized protein

Formulation: Lyophilized from 0.2 µm filtered solution in 130 mM NaCl, 20 mM phosphate buffer, pH 7.5.

Genbank: Q8IU54

Purity: ≥95% by SDS-PAGE and HPLC

Reconstitution: Reconstitute at 0.1-1.0 mg/ml in distilled water. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers. To maximize product collection from vial surface, vortex briefly and then spin down to recollect the liquid.

Storage Stability: The lyophilized protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt when stored at -20°C. Upon reconstitution, store in working aliquots at +4°C for up to one month, or at -20°C for up to six months, in the presence of a carrier protein. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Uniprot: Q8IU54

Warnings: Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.

Biosafety Level: Not applicable (BSL-1)
