Background: Detection of mammaglobin in metastatic mamma carcinoma, differential diagnosis of metastases in sentinel lymph nodes Mammaglobin A is a breast gland associated glycoprotein, distantly related to the secretoglobin family including human Uteroglobin and Lipophilins. Unlike other secretoglobin family members Mammaglobin mRNA seems to be Mamma-specific (exception skin). Mammaglobin has been detected by immunohistochemical approach in intact breast tissue as well as in adenocarcinoma. It seems to be up-regulated in cancer tissues. The monoclonal antibody is suitable for the detection of occult mamma carcinoma cells in sentinel lymph nodes and in peripheral blood. The overall sensitivity of mammaglobin detection on paraffin sections of mamma carcinoma was reported to be >80% (Fanger et al. 2002; Han et al. 2003). 10 KDa Mammaglobin from human breast tissue.

Positive Control: Mamma carcinoma (normal mamma shows up lower expression of the protein), skin sweat glands

Immunogen: Recombinant Mammaglobin A, whole sequence (93 aa)

Purification Method: Affinity purified monoclonal antibody in stabilised phosphate buffer, containing 0.09 % sodium azide**. The volume is sufficient for app 250 immunohistochemical tests (100 µl working solution per test). For dilution we recommend our antibody diluent Art. No. PU002.

Concentration: 50 µg/ml

Caution: *These antibodies are intended for in vitro research use only. They must not be used for clinical diagnostics and not for in vivo experiments in humans or animals. ** The preservative sodium azide is known to be poisonous and potentially hazardous to health. It should be handled only by trained staff. Despite of the product's low azide concentration it must be handled with care. Dispose according to regional rules!
