Clone Number: AFP-11
Immunogen: purified alpha-Fetoprotein
Concentration: 1 mg/ml
Format: Purified by protein-A affinity chromatography.
Storage buffer: Phosphate buffered saline (PBS) solution with 15 mM sodium azide
Additional info: Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is present in fetal plasma, and it binds e.g. copper, nickel, and bilirubin. Measuring of alpha-fetoprotein level in amniotic fluid can reveal severe fetal defects. In adults, elevated AFP concentrations in the plasma can indicate hepatocellular carcinoma or teratoblastoma. In some individuals, hereditary persistance of alpha-fetoprotein can be observed without any obvious pathology.
