Background: The reactivity of the antiserum is directed to the Fc subunits of IgE as tested against mouse sera and a panel of purified homogenous immunoglobulins. It does not react with IgG, IgG/Fab fragments, IgM and IgA or any non-Ig protein in mouse serum, as tested by immunoelectrophoresis and double radial immunodiffusion. In precipitating techniques as immunoelectrophoresis and radial immunodiffusion to identify the presence of homogenous IgE in mouse serum and other body fluids or to determine its concentration. To prepare an immunoadsorbent for the purification of mouse IgE from serum or plasma.
Source: Pools of purified homogenous IgE isolated from pooled mouse serum. Freund’s complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure.
