Background: Pds5B is a cohesin interacting protein. Cohesin functions to hold sister chromatids together during meiosis and mitosis and ensures proper segregation of chromosomes. Pds5B may play a specific role in the stabilization and destabilization of cohesin-mediated cohesion. Pds5B expression has been demonstrated to be androgen-induced and mediate the androgen-induced proliferative arrest of human prostate cells.
