Abbreviation: EGF
Target Synonym: Pro-Epidermal Growth Factor;EGF;Epidermal Growth Factor;Urogastrone
Target Species: Human
Expression Host: E.coli
Fusion Tag: C-His
UNIProt ID: P01133
Background: Epidermal growth factor (EGF) is a small 53 amino acid residue long protein that contains three disulfide bridges. It is a small mitogenic protein that is thought to be involved in mechanisms such as normal cell growth, oncogenesis, and wound healing. EGF stimulates the growth of various epidermal and epithelial tissues in vivo and in vitro and of some fibroblasts in cell culture. This protein shows both strong sequential and functional homology with human type-alpha transforming growth factor (hTGF alpha), which is a competitor for EGF receptor sites.
Activity: Measure by its ability to induce 3T3 cells proliferation. The ED50 for this effect is 0.05-0.12 ng/mL.
Sequence: Asn971-Arg1023
Purity: > 95 % as determined by reducing SDS-PAGE.
Formulation: Lyophilized from filtered solution of 1×PBS, pH 8.0
Normally 5 % - 8 % trehalose, mannitol and 0.01% Tween80 are added as protectants before lyophilization.
Please refer to the specific buffer information in the printed manual.
Endotoxin: < 0.01 EU per ug of the protein as determined by the LAL method.
