Description: NT-4 is a neurotrophic factor sharing structural similarities with β-NGF, BDNF, and NT-3, all part of the cysteine-knot family of growth factors characterized by stable dimeric structures. It is expressed in various tissues such as the prostate, thymus, placenta, and skeletal muscle. NT-4 can activate signaling pathways through the LNGFR and trkB receptors, leading to the survival of peripheral sensory sympathetic neurons. Recombinant Human NT-4 exists as a noncovalently linked homodimer comprising two 14.0 kDa polypeptide monomers, totaling 260 amino acid residues.
