Product Description: C-reactive protein, also known as PTX1, is a member of the pentraxin family and is involved in complement activation and regulation. C-reactive proteins are found as non-covalently associated globular subunits of the serum-soluble cyclic pentameric complex. This recombinant human C- reactive protein corresponds to the 27.75 kDa (224 a.a.) isoform 1 with an intrachain disulfide bond and no glycosylation modification (RefSeq: NP_000558.2; UniProt ID: P02741). It is His-tagged at the C-terminus.

Form: Lyophilized powder

Buffer (with preservative): Reconstitute with distilled water to 0.4 mg/ml. Lyophilized from PBS, 2% Trehalose, 5% Mannitol, 0.01% Tween-80, no Preservative.

Concentration: (Please refer to the vial label for the specific concentration.)

Background: The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the pentaxin family. It is involved in several host defense related functions based on its ability to recognize foreign pathogens and damaged cells of the host and to initiate their elimination by interacting with humoral and cellular effector systems in the blood. Consequently, the level of this protein in plasma increases greatly during acute phase response to tissue injury, infection, or other inflammatory stimuli. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]
