Notes: A17 is a bile acid derivative.{51711} It reduces triglyceride accumulation induced by oleic acid (Item Nos. 90260 / 24659), increases cell viability, and decreases oleic acid-induced lipid peroxidation in primary rat hepatocytes when used at concentrations of 10 and 25 µM. A17 (25 µM) reduces levels of CD36, also known as scavenger receptor B2 or fatty acid translocase, in primary rat hepatocytes. In vivo, A17 (50 mg/kg) reduces serum triglyceride, total cholesterol, and LDL levels, reverses hepatic steatosis, and decreases hepatic triglyceride, but not total cholesterol, levels in a hamster model of high-fat diet-induced non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
