Description: 17-AAG binds specifically to heat shock protein Hsp90 in a manner similar to geldanamycin, but the binding is weaker. Inhibits Akt activation and HER2 expression in tumor cells. Exhibits 100-fold higher binding affinity for tumor-cell-derived hsp90 over that derived from normal cells. Inhibits angiogenesis.

Solubility: Soluble in DMSO at 150 mg/ml; soluble in ethanol at 5 mg/ml; very poorly soluble in water; maximum solubility in plain water is estimated to be about 20-50 µM; buffers, serum, or other additives may increase or decrease the aqueous solubility.
Storage Stability: Store at or below -20°C. Solid form is stable at least 12 months from date of receipt, when stored as directed. Do not store aqueous solutions for more than one day.
