Notes: Propylparaben is a paraben that has been found in R. chamaemorus and has diverse biological activities.{66336,67166,68106,66337} It is active against several strains of P. stutzeri (MICs = 250-300 µg/ml).{67166} Propylparaben binds to estrogen receptors in a concentration-dependent manner, and administration of propylparaben (1% in the diet) decreases sperm counts and serum testosterone levels in rats.{68106,66337} Propylparaben has been found in influent and effluent wastewater.{68107} Formulations containing propylparaben have been used as preservatives in cosmetics, food, and pharmaceuticals.
