Notes: Spirapril is an inhibitor of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE; IC50 = 67 nM) and a prodrug form of spiraprilat.{67573,67574} It inhibits the angiotensin I-induced pressor response in rats and dogs with half-maximal inhibitory dose (ID50) values of 16 and 262 µg/kg, respectively.{67573} Spirapril (5 mg/kg) decreases systolic blood pressure and left ventricular hypertrophy and induces angiogenesis in spontaneously hypertensive rats.{67574} Formulations containing spirapril have previously been used in the treatment of hypertension and congestive heart failure.
